using wood to contain glass
using glass to frame light
Incepted as the first piece in a series of three, intended to show the relation between glass production as a type of industrial design. This first object is a light constructed entirely of glass with the exception of the light fixture. The form language is largely influenced by the unpredictability of glass with the three outermost “squiggles”being bent around a metal mold and coldworked to be made in connection with each other. These connections create a kind of cradle in which the bubble to be contained in, and when the light is turned on, it interacts not only with the glass on the bubble but also on the supporting “squiggles” to create truly unexpected refractions.
